So if you are not the above edition user you will not be able to use BitLocker but there are many others software that you can use like TrueCrypt or Kakasoft.

How To Encrypt a Hard Drive in Windows 7/8/8.1 Using BitLocked:

First of all, i would like to tell in this demonstration bellow I have used Windows 8 to Encrypt my Hard drive.

Steps To Follow For Encrypting a Hard Drive:


First of all Click on the My Computer option.


Now you will get into the disk section and now Right Click the mouse for the disk you want to encrypt.


Now click on the Turn On BitLocker option.


Now a new Window will appear and now click Use a Password To Unlock a DriveĀ option.


Now Enter Your Password.

A new Window will appear where you will need to choose in which location you want to save your BitLocker Password. I have chosen Save as a File option.


After Choosing You to need To click on the Next Option.


Now choose one of the options below.

  • As If you want to Encrypt only used Drive space [which will be faster and best for new PC] you can choose the First option.
  • Whereas if You want to Encrypt the Entire Drive [Which will be slower but best for old PC and used hard disk] you choose the second option.


And Your Hard Drive will start to Encrypt.
